latent, week four
by Asiya Wadud and Tiago Martins Pinto
every facade
becomes the fall
folded in the envelope
the edge sealed and cleaned
prosaic but
to bear witness
present the spleen as
the ascendent
organ
present it as
selfhood
mirrored
bodyweight
to see it doubled
and reflexive
like any covenant
made under
orders
we take careful warning
of each
crack the face
makes— studied in its departure
double helixed in its duty
we have folded the map
and have given it
to the child
let the child read it lengthwise
through all the waterways
prosaic but
to bear witness
