its planetary portion
by Asiya Wadud and Vishnu Vardhani Rajan
it is a smallest comfort
or blessed to be subsumed
by landscape, the
hills that are burrowed and brown
as they were— distance did not
contort them, no dividend anchored them
It is a dance of stars, planets and satellites
Of ancient lores and present acsent
it is planetary to walk a portion
of the perimeter— every country has one, to see
it— to know the desperate want
to know two words
forgiveness and thread
in any language that’s breathing
It is song of permeability
Granting influence, nations grow in humanity
Unearthing serenity seed by seed by seed
unknowing the given, the
between orders of what we have and we have made this
made the forgiving shining
space inside the pleasure of my language
we did not suffer from it
not suffer any affliction or aftermath
burrowed and brown
as they were— we grew to love their condition
nurtured them and even raised
their flag, not for country but
to stake the silence as it happened
, the new world
hums, bears its planetary portion
we did not suffer from it
