AU: Chapter 2 (2024)
It’s the late ‘90s. The occupant is Ritmo. At Ritmo’s home there is Nina, Elke, pH and E. The boys have skateboards, cargo pants, and hoodies. The girls have short dresses. Ritmo wears a black Fruit of the Loom hoodie, and has a septum piercing and a buzz cut. Ritmo’s cargo pants are made of ripstop fabric. Ritmo’s clothes, skateboard, hair, and piercing are the occupant’s. Ritmo’s body is the occupant’s body, and Ritmo’s personality is the occupant’s personality, almost.
The most important thing is to be a Skate Gang, to larp, even if it is never called larping. Larping seems to have some established form that only one of us knows. Maybe we think that larping should be a game, that it involves quests and character development. We just want to be somebody else. The Skate Gang is a parody of a youth culture that we don’t feel like we belong to. The Skate Gang is also a parody of boys. Nina and Elke are cool, and Ritmo, pH, and E are kind of silly.
Ritmo is quieter and nerdier than pH and E. In the photos of the Skate Gang, there is a caption for Ritmo that says Hey dudes, I’ve been thinking. The occupant is not quiet, but the occupant is almost like Ritmo. Ritmo is freer in some things, the occupant feels that, and some things are easier for Ritmo than for the occupant.
Ritmo and the occupant have the same heart. But when Ritmo’s heart rhythm goes haywire and Ritmo is lying on a bed, on the school gymnasium floor, or on a park bench, it is taken seriously. Ritmo is taken more seriously, even though Ritmo is a parody.
